Barb Guembel - Owner and Yoga Teacher
Barb has been active her whole life, but it was when she discovered rowing in high school that she got serious about her athletic training. Her interest in yoga was first sparked when attending university and studying community health. A project in health promotion gave her an understanding of the connection between yoga and overall health.

After finishing her Master’s Degree in Applied Health Sciences, Barb’s interests shifted into endurance sports such as mountain biking, marathon running and Ironman Triathalon. Barb has competed successfully in Ironman races, finishing in the top 10 for her age group in 11.02 hours in the Ironman Mount Tremblant. Ironman Triathalon puts a lot of stress on the body both physically and mentally. It is here, that she finds yoga helps to support her mental focus and helps her to take care of her body in a way that supports her Triathalon training.

Now a mom to two young children, Barb finds yoga even more important in her life to help her find balance. After all, being a parent is a little like running an Ironman all day! Barb completed her 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training at Yoga By Sarah in the Spring of 2018 and is looking forward to bring her life experiences into teaching.

Sylvia Motruk - Occupational Therapist and Yoga Teacher

My name is Sylvia, which is Latin for “of the forest” and couldn’t be more fitting since I am most at home in the outdoors! I love doing yoga on top of mountains, floating on my paddleboard, and alongside members of whatever community I am flowing through. I completed my 200hr yoga teacher training with All Yoga in Bali, Indonesia the summer of 2015, and have since taught yoga to students and seniors of diverse backgrounds and abilities. I just completed my Masters of Occupational Therapy at Queens University, and look forward to incorporating what I’ve learned about adaptation and accessibility into my yoga classes. I am always learning and growing with my students, and look forward to the experiences to be shared on and off the mat in my new home of Port Dalhousie.
