Weekly sessions

Weekly Fall-Winter workouts will include:

NOTE: group rides and group swims resume the week of September 23

 

Swim:

  • Written swim workouts with periodic test sets,
  • We’ve combined and joined with St. Catharines Masters at the Kiwanis Pool for September to March,
  • Private, Club-Only, technique sessions are booked periodically throughout the year,

 

Bike:

  • Saturday morning group ride, leaving from Lock 3 in St. Catharines at 08:00 and meeting the main group at Trysport Niagara at 9:00,

 

Run:

  • Wednesday evenings – TWO LOCATIONS, 1) 18:00 at Trysport Niagara, 2) 18:00 at Lock 3 in St. Catharines,
  • Sunday mornings (08:00, locations rotate from Trysport, Lock 3, Brock, and Short Hills) 

*Spring-Summer schedule begins in May

Calendar Notes:

  • Weeks are now labelled so you know when we’re meeting for formal group training sessions.  We will be training in a pattern of 3 or 4 weeks of build/base work and then 1 to 2 weeks of ‘recovery’,
  • Recovery Weeks: on these weeks we will have no formal sessions but we encourage you to focus on ‘active recovery’.  You can swim, bike, and run easy, without hard intervals and big volume, and you may also take on other activities to promote recovery such as yoga, core classes, hiking, walking, etc.
  • Build Weeks: during these weeks we will stick to our regular training schedule which includes running from Trysport Niagara (unless otherwise indicated with a special event on the calendar) on Tuesday nights at 18:00 and Sunday mornings at 09:00,
  • Special Events: these include special events at Trysport Niagara as well as other training and racing opportunities for the Aktiv Racing Team such as races, training camps, or training sessions at alternative locations,

Aktiv Race Series

Stay tuned for details on the 2014 Aktiv Racing Series.  2014 will have the 2nd annual Aktiv Open-Water Swim Race Series, the 3rd annaul Aktiv Trail Running Series, and three special events, 1. Ontario High School Open Water Swim Championships (TBD), 2. the Oktoberfest Half Marathon (October 4, 2014), and the Ugly Christmas Sweater Trail Marathon (December 20, 2014)
